Connections
Find groups of four words that share a connection. Select four words, then choose Submit to check your group.
How to play Connections
Connections is a word grouping puzzle. Your board contains sixteen words belonging to four groups of four. Each group has a common theme: it might be a meaning, an expression, a word that comes before or after each entry, or another shared feature.
A small example · 8 words
Select four related words, then Submit.
- Select four words that you think belong together.
- Choose Submit to check the group. A correct group moves out of the board and reveals its category.
- If your guess is incorrect, change your selection and try again. Clear deselects your current words.
- Find all four categories to complete the puzzle.
What does “One away” mean?
Three of your selected words belong to the same group. Rethink the fourth word, and consider whether a tempting word might fit a different category.
A strategy for tricky groups
Read the whole board before submitting. A word can suggest more than one connection, but the final solution puts each word in just one group. Try saying a possible category aloud and checking that it fits all four words equally well.
Try a shared word or phrase
BOW, COAT, DROP, and FOREST can all follow RAIN: rainbow, raincoat, raindrop, and rainforest. The link may be how words are used together, rather than what they describe.
Consider another meaning
BASS can be a fish or a musical instrument. Alongside DRUM, FLUTE, and HARP, its musical meaning makes a group. If a word seems out of place, try reading it another way.
Can I try again after a wrong guess?
Yes. You can keep trying; an incorrect guess does not end the game.
