Quote
Use matching numbers to uncover the quote. Select a numbered blank, then choose a letter. Matching numbers always share the same letter.
How to play the Quote puzzle
The quotation is written as a letter code: the same number always represents the same letter within the puzzle. A few letters are revealed to give you a starting point. Spaces and punctuation help you recognize the shape of each word.
Same number, same letter
Select a numbered blank, then choose a letter.
- Select an empty letter cell.
- Type a letter on your keyboard or use the on-screen keys.
- Use matching numbers and the revealed letters to work out more of the quote.
- Complete every letter before making five mistakes. Reaching the mistake limit resets that day's quote attempt.
What does Autofill do?
With Autofill enabled, entering a letter fills the other editable cells with the same number. Turn it off if you prefer to work on one cell at a time.
Where should I start?
Look for short words and repeated letter patterns. For example, a three-letter word that ends with a revealed E could be THE, but check its numbered letters against the rest of the quotation before committing.
Use punctuation and common letters
An apostrophe can help you spot a contraction such as IT'S or DON'T. Letters such as E, T, H, A, O, I, N, S, and R appear often in English. When a number repeats, look for a letter that fits all its word patterns.
